Speaker 1:

I'm your host, jm, and today we're bridging millennia and megabytes as we explore patience in pixels, exploring Psalm 40 in the digital age, in our hectic world of instant notifications, grat and quick fixes, how can ancient scripture like psalm 40 guide us? Let's look a little deeper. Psalm 40, a chapter steeped in patience, recognition of god's works and the essence of true worship. Think about it. How often do we catch ourselves rushing through life like we rage about slow wi-fi, only to forget and pause and recognize all the stuff around us, how we lose our minds over just the littlest things. Now I'm gonna give you a little scenario and just imagine this. Uh, imagine you're. You're in this lively coffee shop and and next to you is king david and he's leaning over so slightly, smiling, lonely, andly, and whispers. Hey, maybe there's a bigger plan here. Imagine ourselves fully devoted to that concept. Imagine the transformations of our daily lives through the incorporation of God's timing. It involves accepting the possibility of that. God's timing may orchestrate everything, including the present moment and our interactions with others, in a manner beyond our comprehension. Consider how every detail, from the most inconvenient setback to the most insignificant delay, could fit into a larger, more intricate plan. Taking this stance has the potential to alter how we deal with life's little victories as well as its major challenges. We can slow down, take a stock of our surroundings and be amazed by the mysterious ways in which fate or divine intervention works, instead of rushing through our days. Adopting the concept of God's timing entails more than just acknowledging the impact of God's might, but being open-minded also involves being ready to learn and seize opportunities as they come your way. Having faith in what's to come and being patient are necessary, but the thrill of contemplating the possibility of a link to something bigger than ourselves. Doesn't that make the effort worthwhile? The next time you're antsy because of a last minute adjustment or delay, think of the phrase we said in our imaginary coffee shop Perhaps, just perhaps, you know. Maybe there's a bigger plan here. You know there's. You know, perhaps there's a grander scheme afoot. Hopefully we'll immerse ourselves in something significant Now.

Speaker 1:

David stresses patience right from the start, so let's go into that. In his writings, he patiently waits for the Lord. The ability to patiently wait is becoming increasingly rare in our modern, fast-paced society. What percentage of the time are you waiting for something, be it coffee, a red light or a loading screen, and tapping your foot restlessly like you can't wait till it loads or moves? You know, david shows that the patience.

Speaker 1:

You know that patience is more about than just waiting. It's also about the way we wait, the. The key is to be calm and collected while a whole of you begs for an action. Right this second, like you want to react, like you want to move and you want to just move forward because it's just moving too slow, based on your own feelings. You know this virtue requires more than simply perseverance. It also demands a deep demonstration of trust and confidence. You know patience invites us to give up on our need for immediate gratifications and aren't we all guilty of that and submit to the timing of our Lord in favor of a more methodical and contemplative lifestyle. Think about the implications for your day-to-day interaction and your future plans. Patience facilitates relationships, developments, comprehension, by allowing events to unfold organically rather than imposing conclusions or pushing it. You know it can be different between a hastily produced average product and a meticulously planned masterpiece. You know this works in the business world, in art, music, in writing. You know Patience is the unsung hero that works behind the scenes in every facet of light, fostering serenity, strength and contentment.

Speaker 1:

Now let's think about what David said. The next time a delay annoys you, embrace the time you'll need to wait as a stepping stone to growth and understanding. Remember that patience pays off at the end. As we continue to reflect on God's word, let us think about the wonder that David felt when he witnessed God's marvels. Praying, he says many, o Lord, my God, are the wonders which you have done.

Speaker 1:

Take a moment to think about the last time you stopped to appreciate the little things in your life, like a stranger's smile, a green light that came at the perfect moment, while you're racing to an appointment or running late to work. Or a phone call from a long-lost friend that made you just laugh and you just started talking like you never lost touch. You know, these occurrences are more than just random chances. They're the small miracles that happen all the time. You know, in the midst of our hectic lives we fail to see these little acts of god. You know, these little acts of god's mercy and concern. Maybe the little things that happen are the hints and nudges from God that we often miss.

Speaker 1:

You know, why not challenge ourselves this week? Let's pay close attention to the marvels around us and enjoy them and appreciate the little things in life for what they truly are the getting a word of wisdom just when you need it, that hug, that advice, that talk, that feeling of just joy and grace that God gives us every day. Doing this, this strengthens our relationship with God, reminding us of His goodness and presence in the little things in life, therefore enhancing our own lives. You know, david so eloquently captures the essence of genuine worship in his statement Sacrifice and offering you did not desire. It is the core of our conversation today. The moving reminder reveals the truth behind well-intentioned but empty ashes, picture-perfect social media posts and well-written prayers. Rather, it forces to return the essence of our being, our genuine emotions.

Speaker 1:

Now, how can we discover genuine worship in a society where everything seems meticulously curated for an online audience? It's all about guiding, you know. It's all about getting to the essence of our spiritual lives by removing the mask of performance. You know, when it seems like everyone is looking, how can we stay connected to our faith authentically? To meet this challenge, we must examine closely what it means to truly be committed and how we show it Now.

Speaker 1:

David's age-lapse blueprint in Psalm 40 is to embrace the present while keeping your eyes on the eternal. The unwavering promise of God's present, ever-present presence surpasses the genuine and significant problems we face in our everyday lives. Present present surpasses the genuine and significant problems we face in our everyday lives. David speaks these words proclaiming the Lord thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer. In the midst of life's ups and downs, these words are a rock that keeps us grounded by showing us that our stories are part of a larger, more eternal story. If you feel comfortable doing so, I would love to hear about your experiences. You know your hardships and I want you, all of us, to join me in this journey, as we learn in this podcast and in this a show, uh, how the wisdom of, and the timeless wisdom of God's words in scripture just help us in this modern time and how we can just use reason and logic that God gives us in order to learn his word.

Speaker 1:

You know, I hope you will take some time this week to reflect on Psalm 40 as we wrap up today's show. Think about how the words express something about your life. Do you make an effort to be patient, recognize god's miraculous works and worship with all your being? You know, think about that. Think about how that can affect your life and how you can use psalm 40 in all aspects, on how you deal with patience and praise and and just your relationship with christ.
